Ryan Hanretty

Ryan Hanretty is an accomplished government relations executive with nearly two decades of experience shaping public policy, advising senior leaders, and navigating politically sensitive issues at the intersection of business and government. Most recently, Ryan served as Senior Director of Government Relations – West at Parsons Corporation, where he led state and local engagement strategies, managed contract lobbyists, built external coalitions, and advised executives on high-stakes political and regulatory matters. Prior to Parsons, he was Legislative Director in the California State Senate, where he directed legislative priorities, built coalitions, and provided risk analysis and strategic counsel on issues ranging from infrastructure and energy to public safety and budget matters. From 2016 to 2019, Ryan was the Executive Director of the California Fuels & Convenience Alliance, overseeing all business operations, government affairs, trade association management, and political action committee activity. His leadership strengthened industry advocacy efforts while advancing organizational growth and compliance. Earlier in his career, Ryan served as Chief of Staff in the California State Assembly, Legislative Assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives, and as a Senior Analyst and legislative staffer in the California State Legislature. These roles gave him first-hand experience drafting legislation, managing offices, analyzing policy, and advising lawmakers on critical issues including water, energy, natural resources, Indian Affairs, and transportation. Ryan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government from California State University, Sacramento, where he was active in Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. His career reflects a commitment to ethical leadership, strategic vision, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving — qualities that continue to define his work as a trusted advisor in the government affairs arena.
