Jeff J. Burton

Bio

Jeff is a seasoned political and government affairs strategist, having served as Deputy Executive Director of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) from 2010-2013. As a senior advisor for the House Republican leadership, he had management responsibility for all aspects of the Committee’s work. He played a key role in raising and directing the expenditure of the Committee’s $150 million budget and led the Young Guns program founded by then-Majority Leader Eric Cantor and former Speaker’s of the House Kevin McCarthy and Paul Ryan.  The Young Guns program made a major contribution to House Republicans’ capturing the majority in 2010 and keeping their majority in 2012.

Prior to his tenure at the NRCC, Jeff served on the senior staff of then-House Republican Whip Eric Cantor. As Director of Outreach, he led advocacy efforts on major legislative battles like economic stimulus, healthcare reform, card-check, cap-and-trade and more.  His ability to build powerful coalitions between lawmakers and grassroots groups made him a go-to strategist in Washington. Jeff utilized his unique position at the intersection of politics and policy to develop a broad set of working relationships on and off Capitol Hill. He served as a vital link between these two worlds and cultivated partnerships that produced a rare amount of alignment and cooperation between Members of Congress, grassroots groups and the lobbyist community.

Jeff’s journey in D.C. began as the first Chief of Staff to Agriculture Committee Chairman Mike Conaway (R-TX), where he earned a reputation as one of Capitol Hill’s most effective leaders. He was later elected Chairman of RAMS, an exclusive network of current and former Chiefs of Staff, Committee Staff Directors, leadership aides and senior Administration officials.

Named a “Mover and Shaker” by Campaigns & Elections magazine, Jeff is known for his deep political insight, legislative victories, and ability to drive impactful change across the political landscape.
